GO4THEGOAL GAMES

Go4theGoal games honor late Meghan Johnson,
best friend Kelly Palmer throws out first pitch

Wesley Wolverine sophomore #32 OF Kelly Palmer (Hershey, PA) threw out the first pitch today, Tuesday, March 26, at the start of the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer doubleheader at DuPont Softball Field.

The Wolverines played the Salisbury Sea Gulls on this day honoring the Go4theGoal Foundation that works with hospitals across the country to provide financial assistance, grant wishes, develop and fund unique hospital programs, and fund innovative research.

The Wolverines wore t-shirts promoting the Go4theGoal logo. Both teams sported yellow shoelaces in support of the foundation.

The games had special meaning for Wolverine Kelly Palmer whose late best friend Meghan Marie Johnson passed away on Nov. 21, 2017, after a long, but courageous battle with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer at the age of 18, just five days shy of her 19th birthday.

Meghan Johnson was an accomplished vocalist. A tape of Meghan singing The Star Spangled Banner was played under the field’s American Flag to launch the games.
